Well, he lost… But… I haven’t been this excited about a politician since I saw Robert Kennedy speak in 1966. He has the clear-eyed vision, and the ability to relate it, that I’ve been looking for. Obama was really good, but was foiled by the blind hatred of Republicans. I think Beto could break down the hatred… let’s see what he does with his future…

The First Trump – Clinton Debate, Sept 26, 2016
Well, here we go again… I last posted a debate shot 8 years ago with Obama and McCain. It’s time to weigh in again. I won’t beat around the bush. Trump is a narcissistic megalomaniacal sociopath, at best, and The Beast at worst. I fear for all of Humanity should he attain the Nuclear Codes. Everyone sane needs to take a stand against this repugnant man! More later… there will be much more to say.
Autumn Leaves, White Mountains, New Hampshire. Oct 2013
A few years ago I visited my son Hawk in Boston during “the colors”. We went camping and I was in heaven — the form and color studies were everywhere. I dream about images like this, it was fun to see them.
Guy Clark, Austin City Limits 2008
Guy Clark, 1978, Austin Opera House
I just got word that Guy died today. Wow.
Guy Clark is as good as it gets, when it comes to songwriting. I’m sorry to hear he’s no longer with us — the world is gonna miss this one… More later as I process this…
Kendrick Lamar 10/30/2015 Austin City Limits
It has been a while since I’ve seen someone who knew how to work a crowd like this guy. He had everyone in the palm of his hand.
Kendrick Lamar @ Austin City Limits 10/30/2015
It doesn’t matter if I think he’s new and young and special. He is all of those things.
Ann Richards 1982 Austin, TX
In ’82 I was hired to do a shoot with Ann Richards, then a Travis County Commissioner. She was running for Texas State Treasurer and needed images. She was a marvelous person, funny, smart, friendly, and thoroughly Texas in every way. She had the slowest, thickest drawl coupled with the quickest wit I’d ever experienced. She was a delight. This is before she was Governor, before all of that.
Here, she was just Ann, navigating us around Austin in her big huge boat of a car, regaling us (Doug Zabel and me) with hilarious stories…
Jerry Jeff and the Gonzos, Gonzales Picnic 1976
The name of this shot is “Wires” because, to me, they seem to connect the entire world to the shot… making everything, everything in the World, part of the shot…July 4, 1976, Gonzales TX. w/ Leon Russell and Steve Fromholz…
Willie at His Picnic 1979
Love this shot from low onstage. You can see the whole deal, right down to the thrown boot awaiting a signature…Briarcliff, Texas July 4 1979.
